Deaf Services Queensland offers a range of Community Auslan classes aimed at introducing basic Auslan conversational skills to participants. The community courses are informal and relaxed, follow the school terms, and run for two hours per week for a total of 8 weeks. Alternatively, in some levels/locations you can enrol in a weekend course which still covers the 16 hours but is held over 2 full days.

There are currently three community courses available:

  • Community Auslan Introduction - designed for those with no previous experience with Auslan (General $200/Concession $165)
  • Community Auslan I - Community Auslan Introduction is a prerequisite for this class (General $200/Concession $165)
  • Family Sign I - for children and their family who are interested to learnmore Auslan after completing Family Sign Introductory class. Open to children aged between 5-17 and up to 4 family members ($300 for family of 4, minimum of one parent/guardian is required to attend with the children). When enrolling, please only enrol one person's name and then we will contact you for the remaining participants. Please email auslan@deafservices.org.au for more information.
