Deaf Services offers a range of Auslan classes aimed at introducing basic Auslan conversational skills to participants.
Community Auslan Introduction is designed for people with no previous language skill or knowledge of Auslan. You will learn basic skills to communicate with Deaf people in Auslan on a range of topics that involve simple, everyday language. The community courses are easy, fun, informal and relaxed.
Community Auslan I is designed to build on the skills and knowledge learnt in the Introduction course. This course has a pre-requisite of completion of Auslan Introduction or prior Auslan experience. You will learn more about grammatical structure and the culture of the Deaf community.
We are very excited to be offering our Community Auslan Introduction classes both online (Zoom) and face to face. Where face to face classes are being offered, we are adhering to the Australian Government social distancing regulations so registrations will be limited.
Our virtual classes are delivered via Zoom. In order to attend the virtual classes, you require:
- a computer/laptop
- an inbuilt camera or webcam
- have reliable internet connection.
The method we are using to deliver our online classes comprises of watching a 1 hour pre-class weekly video lesson, as well as attending a 1 hour virtual class with your teacher and fellow participants. View below our available classes.
All students enrolled in courses with Deaf Services agree to adhere to our Terms and Conditions.
